Yes, for personal use you are free to take photos and film. However, if you intend to publish photos or recordings in a commercial setting, this must be clarified with the artist in advance, and the applicable copyright must be acknowledged. Get in touch with us if you are in any doubt!

Nordic Pixel Forest is a permanent part of the collection at Ekebergparken, and will be here for the foreseeable future.

Nordic Pixel Forest is installed in a woodland area. The forest floor is uneven, with many roots, and tends to become muddy and slippery when it rains. We recommend that wheelchairs, prams, and similar, approach the work from the point on the main route where the sculpture Walking Woman by Sean Henry stands. We are aware that it can be slippery in and around the installation Nordic Pixel Forest in winter, and will continuously assess what measures it is possible to implement in this woodland area.

No, photography is not permitted inside the installations, in accordance with the artist's wishes.

No, we are not able to control the times of the light in Skyspace, only in Ganzfeld. 

Yes, however we recommend that children under 12 are accompanied by at least one adult per child, and that children are prepared for the fact that this is a calm experience where consideration is shown for all those present.

On Sunday tours we admit a maximum of 8 per group. On Session, up to 15 per group, as this is the number of seats in Skyspace. For private tours, the number stated in the tour package you choose applies; if you are more, we are happy to find solutions, so please get in touch well in advance.

Yes, but only available for visitors who are taking part in a private guided tour.

In Ganzfeld, the lights are on during the installation's opening hours and during guided tours. In Skyspace, the light is active in connection with sunrise and sunset — the times for this follow the seasons and change slightly each day.

We offer free guided tours on Sundays between 11:00 and 16:00. Private tours and Sessions can be booked throughout the year.

On Sunday viewings you can ask the guide outside the installation whether there are any available spaces. On private tours and Sessions it is not possible to join other groups.

No, in Ganzfeld and Skyspace you must be accompanied by a guide. This is a measure to protect the artworks and to give visitors the best possible experience. There are many sensory impressions and strong light in the installations, and some people may experience discomfort when encountering these.

Pathfinder is switched on during the summer months, between April and October. Keep an eye on our website for exact dates. During the season, the fog is activated at fixed intervals of 10 minutes, at the following times:

Mon–Fri: 12:30, 14:30 and 17:00 

Sat–Sun: 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 17:00 and 19:00

The sculptures are spread throughout the entire park area, from the roundabout at Konows gate in Gamlebyen, to the top of the hillside where Ekebergsletta begins. See map.

Yes, during the museum's opening hours an accessible toilet is available. There is also a separate toilet building a short way up the hill from Karlsborg Spiseforretning. This is open at all times, for a fee.

Our main round is on gravel roads, and is the most universally accessible route in the park. It provides good access to many of the artworks in the collection. However, there are a number of artworks located on forest paths outside of the gravel roads. The park is also located on a steep hill. 

The museum in Lunds House has a lift and a ramp at the entrance. In the museum we have stools available for loan. Unfortunately we do not have wheelchairs available for loan. During the museum's opening hours, an accessible toilet is available there. Please feel free to contact us at info@ekebergparken.com for help planning your visit.

In winter, the park can be slippery. We recommend bringing ice grips. Ekebergparken is a public woodland area, and all visits to the park are at your own risk.

Our maintenance team clears and grits the main paths in the park to the best of their ability, and in accordance with the park's zoning plan. Our main route follows gravel paths and is the most universally accessible route in the park. It provides good access to many of the park's artworks, but a number of works are located on forest paths beyond the main route.

With regard to the park's woodland areas, there are strict regulations governing how the area may be maintained. Out of consideration for the preservation of the park's forest floor, nature, and biodiversity, we are not able to grit within the woodland areas themselves.

In the museum shop you will find a wide selection of books about the park, the area, and some of the artists in the collection. Our museum hosts are also happy to share their knowledge — feel free to ask!

It is free to enter the museum.

In the museum you can get a coffee and a light snack. For somewhere to sit down, we recommend visiting Karlsborg Spiseforretning or Ekebergrestauranten.

We have a small lounge area on the second floor of the museum, which visitors are welcome to use. In the spring and summer months we also have chairs and tables outside the museum.

Yes, we have some experience with this. We can plan a route featuring artworks that can be touched. Please let us know well in advance so that the guide can make the best possible arrangements.

Yes, we have a speaker available — please let our booking department know in advance.

Please check with our booking department well in advance of your desired tour, and we will see what we can arrange. Please be aware that a longer tour may result in an additional charge.

Yes, we can plan routes that follow flat ground, in the area around the villa gardens and the museum. It is also possible to start the tour at a higher point in the park, so that you walk downhill rather than uphill. Some works are located on forest paths, however, and will be less accessible. Please get in touch well in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Of course. This can be arranged with the booking department in advance of the tour. Please be aware that this does not result in a reduction in price.

If there are particular artworks you would like to see, it would be helpful if you could let us know when communicating with our booking department. This way, the guide can prepare an optimal route for you.

For the best possible experience, and the opportunity to see more artworks on the tour, we recommend starting within the park grounds. A guided tour of Ekebergparken takes place outdoors, and the park is situated on a hillside. You should therefore allow time for moving between artworks.

Yes, to some extent. Our guides all have expertise in art and cultural history, and they know the park well. Please feel free to submit your wishes early to our booking department, and we will see what we can arrange.

Some of the tour packages include a welcome drink, and for others this is an option that can be added to the booking. On our public tours, only non-alcoholic drinks are served.

The meeting point is at our museum at Kongsveien 23, or at James Turrell's installations. However, we can accommodate alternative meeting points in the park if desired.

We offer a number of different tour packages, with varying numbers of places. On Sculpture Walks, the group can be up to 25 people. On Light Walks/Fog Walks and Private Viewings in Ganzfeld and Skyspace, the group can be up to 15 people. We are happy to accommodate larger groups on these tours, but please be aware that this will generally involve additional guides, and therefore a higher price. On Session in Skyspace, the group can be up to 15 people — and this is an absolute maximum, due to seating capacity and fire safety. Please get in touch and we will find the best solution for your group.

The framework agreement between the City of Oslo and the C. Ludens Ringnes Foundation runs until 2063. The artworks that are part of the collection are placed on a permanent basis, but temporary artworks are also installed, for example through the project Sculpture Point:Ekebergparken.

According to the plans for the park with the city of Oslo, up to 80 artworks may be installed in the area.

Yes, the majority of the works are installed outdoors and can be visited at any time. Please note that some artworks have their own opening hours or are seasonal. The museum also has its own opening hours.

The area is owned and regulated by the City of Oslo, but operated by the C. Ludens Ringnes Foundation. The Foundation is responsible for all artworks, including their acquisition, maintenance, and presentation. The Foundation works closely with the Cultural Affairs Agency and the Agency for Urban Environment.

As of January 2025, 49 artworks have been installed in the park.

Yes, but spaces are limited, and we always recommend choosing public transport to get to the park. The park uses an Autopay solution from Onepark. Information about rates can be found on the payment machines. The payment machines are located in the car park by Ekebergrestauranten, and in the car park at Rodetomta (first right after turning in from Kongsveien). For faults with a payment machine or other enquiries, contact Onepark on tel. +47 22 84 92 00.

Tram lines 13 and 19 go to the tram stop Ekebergparken, which is the nearest public transport point to our museum, just a couple of minutes' walk away. It is also possible to approach from above, from Ekebergsletta, or via Jomfrubråtveien.

Yes, from Gamlebyen and the roundabout at Konows gate, Kjærlighetsstien (the Love Path) leads up the hillside. You can also walk up Kongsveien from here. These are the steepest sections of the park, and Kjærlighetsstien can be slippery in winter. Allow plenty of time if you choose these routes.

Ekebergparken offers guided tours tailored for school classes and student groups. In 2026, school tours are also offered through the projects Traces in the Landscape and Light and Pixels. More about these here. The activity house Hakkespettene hosts family workshops throughout the year — these are announced well in advance in our calendar. The museum presents the history and nature of the area, and can be suitable for children of all ages.

Ekebergparken is a public park, and all enquiries regarding events must be directed through the Agency for Urban Environment at byleie.no. We ask that you contact us and inform us of where and when you are planning to hold your event, so that we are aware of what is taking place in the park and when. In that case, we will require that a site inspection of the area you have selected be carried out to assess whether it is possible to make the necessary arrangements. It is not permitted to drive vehicles inside the park. Ekebergparken has parking (Autopay) for visitors, as shown on our map (see map here). In addition, there may be an opportunity to park outside Ekebergrestauranten, but this must be arranged directly with the restaurant as they are separate from the sculpture park itself. 1. Obtain permission: The park must approve and be informed of where, what, and when you plan to film/photograph. Send your enquiry to info@ekebergparken.com
2. No obstruction of visitors: You must not obstruct the movement of other visitors. As a public park, all visitors have the right to move freely throughout the park. This means it is not possible for you to exclude other visitors from the area where you are filming/photographing. Nor is it permissible to ask other visitors to wait before approaching. If other visitors do approach, filming/photography must cease until those in question have moved on. It is required that filming/photography be carried out in a manner that is considerate of other visitors in the park and not intrusive to them. It is not permitted to cordon off areas of the park.
3. Licensing of photography: When photographing or filming artworks in the park, you must contact BONO to clarify the rules that apply regarding fees and the reproduction of copyrighted works. Most of the artworks in the park's collection are subject to copyright law and require that a fee be paid to BONO and that the artworks are correctly credited in accordance with BONO's guidelines. 4. Written consent: Equally, written consent must be obtained for photography of visitors in the park where applicable. We recommend having consent forms for film recording/photography available to present to those concerned. If visitors object to being filmed or photographed, this must be respected. It is your responsibility to obtain and manage consent.
